Walking around in the mountains on a freezing cold night voluntarily sounds kind of crazy. But add some snow shoes and your family and it's late night snow shoeing! Snow shoeing is something my dad and brother have loved for a while now, and I have been before and had a blast. It's even better at night because of the moon and the stars, and just the general quiet that is all around you, leaving you with your thoughts and the sound of your footsteps. So a couple nights ago when my brother asked if we wanted to go we said yes! The group consisted of my dad, Brad, Maja, Brian, John and me. Maja was skeptical of the cold but once you get moving all that snow gear keeps you really warm! We also kept freaking each other out at the prospect of wild animals stalking us, and who would be the slowest runner (me haha). John had never been before and we had so much fun together. We went up to Big Springs (Vivian Park area) and it was such a beautiful walk. The moon went in and out of the clouds as we hiked up, and when it hit the snow it was as bright as day. We made it up to the second meadow and ran all around, took pictures, and watched the moon come out again. By the time we got back down to the car it was midnight and we were all exhausted and happy from our hike in the snow!

Me and Maja with Dad, all bundled up!
The men-Maja flash and my flash went off at the same time, creating this awesome shadow effect behind them(and the white out faces haha). Pretty Sweet!
Me and my man hanging out in the meadow-love it love it :)
Love Always, Katie
