IOWA LIFE AND LOVE :)

okay, okay, I haven't been doing a TON of blogging lately but these APX summer days all just seem to blur!  John sells and knocks doors six days a week, 12 to 10, or 10 to 10 on saturdays, and I have been lucky enough to just be hanging out!  I spend a lot of my days reading, relaxing by the pool, cleaning the apartment, and making dinner nightly for five or six guys who have no groceries.  One of the guys said to me one night, "I'm so happy you had me over, last night  I had a piece of toast with some butter on it."  I nearly cried.  He's now an honorary guest at our house. :)  I've also made a few friends with the other wives and girlfriends who are out here, and we've had some good adventures, such as trips to Iowa City, swimming, farmer's markets, and of course, grocery shopping together.  This last week we had an absolutely amazing thunderstorm, pouring rain and tons of lightning.  Needless to say, Amy and I went for a little run in it and got soaked through to the bone and it was awesome. :) I've also been able to spend a lot of time catching up with girlfriends I've known for 18 years, seeing my old neighborhood and house, and seeing my sister Mandy in Des Moines.  Now don't worry I've got pictures for you!

a beautiful Iowa sunrise :)
the view from our apartment balcony-its sooo green here!
A recent photo of us-still looking good under the Iowa sun!  Gotta love John in that blue shirt, matches his eyes :)
a typical pastime here on sundays and after work-John and Adam playing Modern Warfare 2.  Don't worry, John is still good at paying attention to me!

the Cedar River is almost literally our front yard, and guess what-there's a cedar rapids show skiing team.  In IOWA.  A land locked state.  and they do stuff like THAT.  Every thursday during the summer.  CRAZY!
John and I at the pool!  I spend all the time I can there, and John loves to get an opportunity to go when he's not working.
Experimenting with photography-a picture of our rings on a flower at the pool. <3
Such a guy thing- "Hey, for fun, lets get in teams, line each other up, and throw water balls at each other's backs as hard as we can."  Sounds like a blast, right? ;)

So there's a little update on how we're doing and what we've been up to.  I've been asked to be a leader at GIRL'S CAMP for the next week, which I'll have to post about when I get back on friday.

Also, Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there, especially to my father and my grandfather's who have been so wonderful to my whole life! Also a Happy Father's day to my awesome father-in-law who is so sweet to me and has treated me like a daughter from the beginning. :)

Have a great week everyone!  Love, Katie
